Our Dances:
Sod Hall

Our Dance 'Sod Hall' was written in memory of the long gone wattle and daub hall that used to stand on the fertile peat rich flat lands, or moss, to the east of our home town of Leyland.

That house was appropriately called Sod Hall, it is now just a patch of waste land in the corner of a field.

Site of Sod Hall

In the 1970s the derelict lodge to Sod Hall was demolished and all that now remains to show of its existence is old OS maps and the lane by which it stood that is still called Sod Hall Lane.

When we discovered this little gem of local history it was too good an opportunity not to name a dance after it and the idea for Sod Hall, the dance, was born.
